See everything you spent, across all accounts

One list of every expense from every account, plus bills, filtered by payee, category, account or dates.

Purchases → Expense transactions.

Banking is where the categorizing happens: one account, its own register, its own statement. This is the screen for afterwards, when the question is about the money rather than the account — what went out, to whom, and against what.

It takes in two things Banking cannot show together: every bank transaction from every account, and bills that were never a bank line at all.

The filters

·Search — payee, category, cheque number, or an amount
·Type — Expense, Deposit, or Bill
·Payee — only the vendors and customers that actually appear, not every one ever created
·Category — any account you have used, plus Uncategorized
·Account — one bank account instead of all
·Dates — last 30, last 90, this year, or Custom dates, where you set the exact from and to

Whatever is active shows as a chip underneath, and each chip removes only itself. Clear filters removes all of them.

Why Deposits are in an expense list

A refund from a supplier is part of the story of what you spent. Leaving it out makes a category read high for a month with nothing to explain it.

The three figures

Spent is bank money out. Billed is what suppliers invoiced. Still owed is the unpaid part of those bills. They are kept apart rather than added, because a bill and the payment that settled it are the same money and summing them counts it twice.

Changing something

This screen does not edit. Click a row to open it where the rest of the record is — the register for a bank line, the bill for a bill — because a category changed without its context is how a ledger breaks quietly.
